Consecutive means an activity when the translator listens to the speaker, remembers what the interlocutor is saying (or takes notes) and when the interlocutor completes a sentence or more, translates into the target language. In consecutive translation, the translator sits / stands next to the speaker and translates the speech according to pre-agreed parts.

It is desirable that the consecutive translator be instructed in the topic before the act of translation, as well as to get acquainted with the participants of the meeting where the translation is performed, and it is especially important to precisely agree with the person whose speech will be translated, in order to learn about the translation topic on time. The consecutive interpreter represents a very important person at the meeting, since the outcome of the meeting itself may depend on a quality of the translation. 

Since he conveys to the gathered public the speaker’s ideas which must be impeccably presented in the target language, he must possess the skill of public speaking. Furthermore, the interpreter should have sufficient experience in this kind of work, he must be calm and focused on the speech and its interpretation. It is desirable that he be sufficiently representative and in accordance with the occasion in which he is translating, decently dressed.
